Homes With Backyard Gardens and Swings Create A Bit Of Heaven
When I moved into my home, it was a barren wasteland of construction weeds, clay soil and buried trash.(Like bricks, wire, cans, broken concrete, etc.)
I've added at least 30 trees and loads of flowers. This past fall, I added a raised flower bed to plant vegetables.
The fruit trees in the yard are nectarines, pears, peaches and cherries.
Plants for food are blueberries, blackberries, yellow tomatoes, red peppers, cucumbers, kale, spinach, lettuce, red and sweet potatoes and herbs.
This is my first year to try knock out roses. I thought they were doing well untill today ...now i see something has been eating the leaves. Now I will have to investigate that!
I love the swing under the deck to relax and check out my plants. It also gives me a great view of the creek and Sycamore trees in the shaded woods behind the house.
My best advice for landscaping your home is plant whatever makes you happy!
Stay tuned for my blog post on revamping the front porch!

Lizette, looks like a very good spot to wind down after a day of selling Real Estate
What a lovely spot-- congrats on making it your own. It takes time to create our own little bit of heaven-- here's mine! K
Nothing like jabbing all ten fingers into your dirt, your personal patch of clay and soil. I spent the day planting as well, laying a new flower bed of purple (butterfly bushes) and yellow (roses and lillies).
That is absolutely beautiful! It looks so peaceful and a great way to end your day!!
Lizette, great place to relax and enjoy! I love it! I have a wild mess in my back yard just outside the door, and I love that too. Or my hammock next to the hayfield... nothing like it.
Lizette,
We have a big yard and love a big flower and vegetable garden. But the weather has not cooperated for two years now.
Just so relaxing and carefree sitting out there... Makes little worries disappear.
