Club Chaos Agents - All Things Hollish, Wacked, and Jacked

Sometimes “going with the flow” takes you straight to the bottom!

Going with the flow can take you straight to the bottom. We are often told that we should NOT make waves, or that those that rock the boat are destined to fail. Nothing could be farther from the truth.

Quite often the pack mentality crushes creativity and squelches excellence. And the chances of being noticed as an individual worthy of consideration are diminished.

Because our unique value proposition is what separates us from the norm and defines us as innovators or leaders in our field. If that means churning up the waters a bit and swimming upstream then so be it!

Nobody ever said that achieving success was easy! Or that there will not be some awkward moments along the way.

Standing out from the crown takes confidence and courage. But it can take you straight to the top!

Well said Richard.  I like to make waves and do things that are out of my comfort zone.  I enjoy your blog.

Richard, your words of wisdom and encouragment for those of us that think outside the box are greatly appreciated.

We all like to feel like we "fit in", but it is easy to get stuck in a mind set.  Stepping outside our comfort zone and taking a chance can, and will open doors you never imagined possible.  So, I say, "Swim Baby, Swim"

Richard, Our whole challenge is to NOT be like the other 6000 agents we compete against :)  Blogging and video are the avenues to take for us, trying to get that extra bit of notice that might just get us that interview :)

I started this business three and a half years ago and did not go with the flow.  And I am so glad I did!

First, I subscribe to Pack mentality and expect them to win next Sunday.

Never make waves or rock the boat unless you are prepared to swim and are a good swimmer.  If you can't swim, you really don't belong in the boat.

Well. There's you. There's the local area that you live, work, play that is unique. And if you just be you, work hard, be creative, results happen. Watching others, getting advice from everyone and their brother is the problem. You are not everyone else and dare to be different. Spend less time around the watercooler debating and predicting. Go do something special you thought up, you implement and have a slug of fun doing it.

This such a well written post.I dare to dance to the beat of a different drum.  Sometimes it gets a bit lonely.  I am waiting on the superbowl to see the Steelers win.  I liked this post so much that I am going to subscribe to your blog.

This is great....more than once in a board meeting or at our office I have went against the pack....they shouldn't have me on board if they don't want my opinion...and it isn't always the popular one!
Great post!

Richard, making waves is a good thing! Not always comfortable but well worth the extra effort.

Ahhh - your post reminds me of how much I love watching the salmon coming up the river to spawn in the fall.  They somehow leap up fish ladders & make their way against the flow of the current for miles & miles to get to their destiny.
