Feng Shui Long Island, Inc. and Feng Shui Manhattan, Inc. have always been involved with community projects and volunteering when able to. The love for motivating and inspiring others is a core key element to Feng Shui. This past year I have been consulting and personal training with many clients that have been recovering or going through treatments for Leukemia and Lymphoma. To honor them and their family members I have recently teamed up with The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Team In Training for the Grand Canyon Hike for a cure in May of 2012.

I have a mission-to help find cures and more effective treatments for blood cancers. To accomplish that mission, I’m participating in a sports endurance event as a member of The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Team In Training. Like the other members of TNT, I will be raising funds to help find cures and better treatments for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma. I’m improving the quality of my life by participating and with your support; I can help improve the quality of life for patients and their families as well.

At no set amount, Ms. Cerrano asks for your help and if you can please make a donation in support of her efforts with Team In Training and help advance the research for cures. You can donate $10, $15, $20 or up, it's what you feel comfortable with.

Chinese New Year is January 23, 2012! Feng Shui Tips for how to prepare by Laura Cerrano

It is time to get ready for the Chinese New Year which takes place on January 23, 2012.  This is the year of the most powerful animal in the Chinese Zodiac, the year of The Dragon.  The Dragon is highly revered and respected in the Chinese culture.  It is a mystical creature created by various animals such as the tiger, fish, snake and eagle which gives it magnificent power to accomplish a great deal.  The Dragon is powerful, energetic, generous, wise, sensitive, honest, but be aware also short tempered and at times unpredictable. 

The year of the Dragon is a time to welcome longevity, wealth and prosperity and to release any negative energy from the past. Also be mindful this year brings, excitement, unpredictability, exhilaration and intensity. During this time many are in the mode of "Go for it!" but, be wise with the decisions you make.  Do not through all your commonsense out the window, for you may find yourself in unnecessary situations.  Be open to change knowing it is always for the better and Go with the flow.  This is a year to work hard and manifest your goals.

1. As the Dragon says, clear out the past.  Delcutter your home, offices and anyplace that you have occupied this year.  If you don't USE it, NEED it or, LOVE it, get rid of it.  By doing this, you lighten up the energy of your home and mind. Release the old and allow new, fresh and beneficial energy to enter into your life. Be sure to declutter the basement and if you can the attic as well.  Objects do carry energy, so as you sort them, do they represent good fortune of the past year and offer you positive memories or should they be released because they hold negative or sad content.  

2. Give your home a "Deep Cleaning or cleansing".  Dust away the cobwebs from your home and office spaces...and dust off your mind.  Positive thinking never hurt anyone.  Turn something around in your mind until you can find the POSITIVE-and keep it there.  Like attracts Like.  We get back what we send out.  Send out the best.

Extra tip: When cleaning be sure to start your cleaning from the front of your home to the back.  Sweep away negativity gathered from last year.  If you sweep from back to front, you risk sweeping away good fortune.

Attention to detail goes a long way. Look inside your refrigerator, get RID of old food and restock to start your New Year with Abundance.  BUY SOME COLORFUL FRESH FRUIT as another sign of abundance and place it on your kitchen or dining room table.  With Intention

4. Purchase those Red Envelopes. These red envelopes symbolize luck and are to be filled with brand new one dollar bills which represent an abundance of wealth for the upcoming year.  Traditionally, they are given to the younger generations but, are also passed to close neighbors and friends.  How much money to put in each? I suggest eight or nine dollar bills, because in Feng Shui they are Lucky Numbers. This is also the time to write down your intentions before the next tip on how to prepare for the New Year.

5. Preform a Space Clearing for your home and business.  Native American White Sage is a great way to bless your home before the Chinese New Year. Do everything with INTENTION on what you'd like to attract this year.  Space Clearings should ONLY be done during the day, when the sun is at its highest point---between 11:00 am to 1:00 if possible.  Never at night.  Make sure you address the corners where Energy can get ‘stuck' or linger. All levels of your home should be cleared, basement, attic and even closets.

6.  Pay off whatever credit cards or other bills if possible.  The extra amount is not as important as the idea that you are creating a Debt Free year and starting it off with as little debt as possible.

7. Welcome the New Year with beautiful Fresh flowers :) Take the time to hand pick them from your local florist and place them in a vaze.  flowers are symbol of abundance and new life energy.

8. Treat yourself kindly.  Take some time out to do something special for yourself.   When we treat ourselves well, it is said others will treat us well, too!  Maybe it's a manicure or that special outfit you've been wanting; maybe it's just taking home a movie you have wanted to see.  YOU are Special....treat yourself that way :)

Set up your home with the Spirit of Feng Shui for the Holidays by Laura Cerrano

No matter what you celebrate the bottom line is, your home feels great because of what the holiday seasons represents, Love and compassion .

Think about all the senses that you see, smell, hear, and feel with touch and energy during these times.  Your home is always filled with good energy, but now is the time to jump kick it into feeling great! especially before the New Year arrives.

• Think warm and welcoming colors such as reds. Have touches of red throughout out your home to warm up your home and stimulate in a positive way.  During these times there is more then enough red to go around :) You can add bows, red bells, runners for your table...be creative! What is red that makes you feel good :)

• Tis the time to reconnect with family and loved ones who have passed.  Display images of your family, friends, pets, whom ever makes you feel warm inside :) If not images, perhaps gifts they have given you to warm up the energy of your home.

• Fill your home with positive affirmations and kind greetings. Perhaps you have received cards from family members, clients and friends, place them on display. Remember objects, such as cards and photos are filled with great energy.  Let that flow in your home.  Seeing those words everyday truly does help to lift the spirit and motivate you.  As always, Ms. Cerrano recommend believe :)

Stimulate your home with warm cozy smells, let that be by scented candles, flam less or real.  Or try scented oils.  Everyone will be different with what makes them feel good.  Some basic recommendations, the sent of lavender and vanilla are always classic ways to create a calm feeling in your home.

Music is a powerful tool to change the atmosphere in your home.  Each tone, beat and sound produces a different sensation within you and continues to vibrate through your home.  So, depending on the kind of feel your going for, it will vary with the type of music you choose.  Ms. Cerrano personally loves the 60's, 70's, 90's, Big band (grandma Rose's influence), folk, just about all of it :) You can also symbolize sound with those famous Holiday bells :) Hang Bells from the inside or the outside of your front door!

When you sit down for that holiday meal or simply a meal on your own or with family, it's a great idea of have soft background sounds.  Think of it this way, when you calm, eating is fun and relaxing, which means digestion will be the same ;)

Feng shui Tip and Cure ( A gift to you): From the BTB school of Feng Shui Honoring the Red Envelope tradition. 

Cut a 9" Red Ribbon and attach 3 similar bells from that ribbon.  From the inside of your front entrance door, hang the red ribbon with the three attached bells and the intention behind this care is to "ring in the money."  

Ms. Cerrano's clients always get excited when she recommend this Feng shui cure because they have it left up from the holidays.  So, why not leave it up all the time if it makes you feel good ;)

If you have a lot of hard furniture, tis the time to balance the Yin and Yang of your home.  Even texture, the feel of chairs, couches, tables, all play a huge role in warming up a space. Make your home feel cozy, inviting for your guest, yourself and that kind of energy will resinate all around your home :)

These are a few ways to help Set up your home with the Spirit of Feng Shui for the Holidays.  Have fun, enjoy and you can do the same to the outside ;)

November 23rd 2009 is a long time to wait, eh? 2011 is gonna be mad fun (LOL) ;-)

Starting January 2011 I'm going to be featuring other artists on the Ambassadors of Chaos record label. Did you guys know that Cher Johnson writes lyrics? Karen does cool lyrical spoofs, Candice is cooking up a rock band, Jessica is a classical pianist and I would love to high-jack a host of other fun Rainers for my music projects.

I would absolutely love, love, love to hang out in GA and do a "Dear Richard" album. I am drooling over a black stratocaster so next year may be very interesting (LOL). BTW, we've been threatening to have a pajama party blogging on a certain Ambassador's deck inspired by the yellow briefs incident. Hint hint (LOL).

Did I mention I was going to TX in the spring? Oooooooo... Wordy C is invading states not on the eastern seabord... What a scary thought (LOL). Melodious and Amanda shall be the boss of me while there. Can you imagine the Queens of Chaos blogging live... with streaming video? ;-)

Next album is entitled "Believe." First single is "Amazing Grace - Believe." It wont be what you're expecting so you may have to sample it a few times (LOL).

New York City's Feng Shui Consultant--WHICH BAGUA?

Revisiting the BAGUA---Actually, the BaguaS

As a New York Feng Shui Consultant for almost 13 years, I KNOW the Bagua.  For Goodness sake, I sometimes TEACH Feng Shui and teach each and every client the Bagua so they can apply it to another space...their office, for example.

Imagine my surprise when I came across ANOTHER Bagua.  A DIFFERENT Bagua.  When I Googled for more information, I came up with at least Three different Bagua maps for Feng Shui.

If they weren't drastically different, I wouldn't have thought that much about it.  After all, Feng Shui is mostly about INTENTION.  What DID bother me, however, was the location of the HEALTH AREA.

I'm pretty easy going for a Feng Shui Consultant.  I work with my clients and find ways to incorporate THEIR designs with Feng Shui principles.  But if you asked ANY of my clients, I am a "stickler" for HEALTH ISSUES.  Or Potential Health Issues.  And Health, as I was taught, is in the Center.  It's been interesting to me that if there are health issues in my client's lives, you can SEE it in the Center of their home.

I even did a post about it so others could see what I see:

Some of the other Bagua's have just "Center" in the middle.  Some have the word "Unity."  Still others have "Yin Yang."  The Bagua I was taught to use is from the Lin Yun Temple.

Please Note:  I am NOT saying the other Bagua's are wrong, they are just different.  I confirmed this with an excellent source of Feng Shui knowledge, our own Michelle Minch who is not only an incredible Home Stager but a Certified Feng Shui Consultant.  Her bagua is different.

It is INTENTION, we decided.  Of course it is about changes as well but we were taught Intention accounts for 80  % of the changes you will see in your life.

So be aware....if you are following Feng Shui, choose a Bagua and stick with THAT one.
