Ugh…yesterday was the “official” changing of the season with good reason!

Turning on the cool!Yes, it was Easter Sunday yesterday but that’s not what this post is about. And although it was only April 4, the last official rite of passing of the season occurred:

I turned on the air conditioner!

I typically try to hold out for May 1 before taking such a drastic action. After all, there are supposed to be those “perfect” days in between winter and summer that do not require any artificial climate adjustment.

But when the upstairs thermometer indicated that it was 82 degrees inside, I opted to be comfortable instead of thrifty. Early April or not, that’s pretty warm for sleeping.

Our “summer” indoor temperature minimum is fixed at 78 degrees, which is an eleven degree shift from our heat conserving winter setting of 67 degrees. That requires some adjustment, but we usually have the opportunity to ease gradually from one to the other.

But there has been nothing “usual” about the weather this year!
