I keep thinking that Noah needs to be wearing the blue "It's my brother's fault" tee shirt (LOL). The cool thing about learning to be a blogging beach bum with a laptop and air card is the fact that you can have impromptu dance parties with the wee people stomping through the surf to the likes of Duffy, Glee, U2 and Jewel (LOL).

The kids even threw me a musical bone while playing iMix DJ. Check out their fave tunes during our Hurricane Earl is coming surf party. Stephen, the Blur Minion shaking his money maker to Anya Marina and Christina Aguilera was priceless. Noah likes to air guitar Chris Isaak and Meg Hutchinson. I bet you'd like to be a fly on the wall when we all do the Apple ipod Nano dance to Vertigo (LOL).

Did I mention I am sooooooo easily amused? I am you know... It's great to be a kid with your kids. Even better when they love music just as much as you do and can make up their own minds as to what it means to be a taste maker. That's what DJs do. They select music that they want to introduce to listeners. I bet if you click that link their faves will surprise you. :-)

BTW, wanna see some old but cool Apple movies? Oh go ahead... you know you want to click that link. ;-)

Don't Mess With Earl...

Carolyn Tann Starr 2010

Don't Mess With Earl...

The surf is up so we had a pizza dinner on the Melbourne Boardwalk to watch the waves crashing on shore. Looks like Hurricane Earl is gonna make us leave early. Bummer... Coa Coa Beach was having a surf competition this week end and I really wanted to see/film that. US192 also has a bunch of open houses scheduled beach side and we were looking forward to being lookie-lous (LOL).

Oh well... We shall see what Earl has in store for us before we make our final decisions...

I have several YouTube drafts that need to be completed and posted before we head back up the coast. I also have to complete the second album and send it to the distributor before the end of the month. That may be delayed because Granny is in the hosp and we are stressed out about that...

Shall catch up on my posting later on today. We've been very busy exploring Florida and tracking hurricanes. I have lots and lots of eye candy to sort through with the wee people and get posted. While hanging out on the Boardwalk we learned three things: (a) Melbourne has good pizza, (b) don't swim in water with a bacteria warning posted or you'll get the stomach flu and (c) don't mess with Hurricane Earl. Hurricanes rule... Also, Mr Autism and Mr PDD-NOS find their effects on the surf fascinating. :-)

I love cloud watching... Beach hopping is not bad either...

I am getting all sorts of ideas for some really cool paintings... While I poke around collecting eye candy to turn into posters my kids are becoming beach bums. Noah now habitually takes his swimming goggles into the bath tub to go under water and look at Stephen's hot wheel cars (LOL).

Stephen doesn't mind a bit and thinks washing his cars in our garden tub is very cool. :-)

Aunt Mona is stopping by to take them out to play at the pool tomorrow. I am going into the studio to work on another song after we set up a wireless router (and will be looking forward to logging into my Netflix account). Time for bed. We have been running amok all day. I want to sneak out and capture a sunset... ;-)

Life With Wee People: Do not feed the alligators... it's a felony...

Carolyn Tann Starr 2010

Life With Wee People: Do not feed the alligators... it's a felony...

Only a New Yorker would spend the entire time on a gorgeous nature walk in a fabulous sanctuary contemplating the stupidity of people feeding the alligators (LOL). I was completely distracted for two miles imagining all sorts of Saturday Night Live scenarios... Needless to say, the cartoons in my head had a field day with this. :-)

Knowing there were critters anticipating a possible meal kept my fight or flight switch flipped the entire time we were wondering about without a map. Ironically, it also resulted in my taking 181 photographs and film clips as I habitually zoomed in to scope out creepy sounds and interesting bends in the path. Every time something surfaced in the water I was capturing that puppy whether it be a black garbage bag, a bunch of turtles or an unidentified floating object...

I shall confess to making my children run away on a whim a few times I didn't like the sound of something while traveling down a narrow path. It was fun and slightly creepy so my hair standing up on the back of my neck mantra to the kids became, "Creepy sound, creepy sound, go-go-go! Run, run, run! Stay with Daddy!" Mike, bless his soul, would never question me. He'd start jogging, the kids would start runing and I would bring up the rear ready to stomp the crap out of anything that came near them. If Stephen was too slow, Mikey would give him a ride, which caused Stephen to want to run all the time (LOL).

If you take stress or heart medication, go sit yourself down on a scenic pier and enjoy a tranquil sunset. No hiking there for you sweetie pie. It is really quiet and we saw very few people. Once you start down the winding paths you have to finish your journey because if you try to back track after going too far in you may get lost. The directional signs are spaced out. We got lost near the exit sign and discovered a lovely picnic spot we wish we would have known about before we started (LOL).

Stay on the marked path. The marked path is your friend... There are unmarked paths there. True to form, the wee people kept wanting to go off the path to explore the jungle. Seems the paths without the signs were always more interesting to them.

Here is as sneak peek of the type of eye candy to come. I shall YouTube that puppy for you tomorrow so you can take a tour of Turkey Creek to see if you'd like to hike there. It's gorgeous and a wee bit creepy... :-)

Club Chaos Eye Candy: A Melbourne Sunset

Carolyn Tann Starr 2010

Club Chaos Eye Candy: A Melbourne Sunset

I am going to have a lot of fun creating limited edition posters with Inna Hardison of HA Media Group for my show at the Ward Nasse Gallery in New York. I have been putting that off but I need to get back on schedule with creating my artwork.

Don mentioned on my previous post that he would have liked to see the other shot without the boat. Since the owner didn't take it out for a spin while I was there, I don't have an updated photograph (yet). I do have a new view to share instead... Isn't it gorgeous?

All susets are beautiful... That is when God paints the sky with color and I get to be awe struck during one of the favorite parts of my day. I am creating more music, so I have to go now. Will share another photograph in the morning. :-)

Cooking up a new video for our new song...

Carolyn Tann Starr 2010

Cooking up a new video for our new song...

We created three new songs but only named two. The wee people like "Sunshine" and "Red" but are ambivalent about the third one so we're going to go hunt up some more eye candy while I tweak it to make Stephen happy. If the Minion Blur doesn't give it the nod of approval or ask me to dance soon I shall scrap it and start new. Gonna go hang out on the Melbourne piers today. I have a painting to paint for my living room and a song to improve.

I miss New York. Florida has lovely views but I have yet to find a decent bagel... Found great pizza to compensate for being deprived of my bagel fetish (LOL). I shall blog about that later. :-)

I'm thinking this shot would look really nice in the guest room. It still doesn't have a lick of furniture in it. The boys play with their beach balls in there (which  my Mom is going to chastise me for when she reads this little confession). :-)

Life With Wee People - Indian River

Life With Wee People - Indian River

The little minions go beach hopping up and down the Indian River to collect some Club Chaos Eye Candy. Noah and Stephen begin their day at Sebastian Inlet and watch the sunset at Melbourne Beach. They make 5 random stops in between where ever they spot a public beach access sign. My kids are really getting into the "lets take a ride" game (LOL). Mapping recreational places is a lot of fun when you let the wee people play TomTom.

Are you ready for some Florida eye candy? We have a lot more coming. The shorties love parks and I have to keep them on their after school schedule even though we are on vacation. Their routine means a lot to them and I usually have mad fun exploring communities with them in New York. No point not doing it while we are here. :-)

I woke up this morning with a box of 404 Likes on my Facebook profile page. Make it go away...

I woke up this morning with a box of 404 Likes on my Facebook profile page. Make it go away...

So... did Facebook make the August 23rd "we are no longer supporting boxes" decree so they could add personal information to our profile pages we don't want prominently displayed there? What the heck is wrong with them? Why are we constantly struggling to opt out of features they force us to opt into?

I did not ask for a "Likes" box to replace my Mafia Wars spot.

How dare you dump our HTML widgets spots of what we wanted to specifically share so you could implement exposing everyone's likes...

I dislike your LIKES box and want instructions on how to make it go away since I DON'T LIKE IT...

Anyone know how to do this feel free to post the instructions here...

Seeing that really flipped my b*tch switch this morning... Just because I like something doesn't mean I automatically want to prominently endorse it to all of my personal and business connections. I do not "like" things with equal intensity and only endorse the people, places and things that I love.

Pissing off consumers is not how you improve a social media website. If your goal is to monetize it, you should be more careful with how you aggregate and expose our collective information. Just because I "liked" one post written by a writer doesn't mean I like their entire blog.

Maybe you should make a separate subscribe button so you can understand the difference between us liking a single post as opposed to us liking an entire blog. Even people who don't like me share what I write once in a while because they found it useful on a specific occasion.

I want that box off of my profile page. Seriously...

UPDATE with Lori's help: Click the little edit pencil, then change the setting to "only me" at the bottom of  the new page that opens up across from the little edit pencil. Poof be visibility by others gone. :-)

I just got a fun phone call...

The person wanted to know why I stuck a video comment within the comments section of one of my posts instead of making it a separate post.

Hmm...

I don't know (LOL).

Maybe because I was answering a specific person who read that particular post and was kind enough to take the time to ask me several questions and wish me well. She also wanted me to do a lot more YouTubes and kept checking back looking for a response.

Since this person also reads the comments people leave for me, on a whim, I left it in the comments section for her to find. In case she missed it, I did post it as a post on another one of my websites. She didn't miss it.

I may do more of those. I have a lot of e-mail to answer (LOL).

This means if you don't habitually read the comments sections of writers you may be missing all kinds of trivial visual tidbits... Might even be fun if you discover the next one... Just sayin... ;-)

Cloud Watching... and other neat things to do in Florida...

The National Weather Service is a mandatory digital stop if you are running amok during hurricane season. Actually, it's mad useful no matter what you are doing (LOL).

http://www.myflorida.com is the official portal for the State of Florida. We are clicking all sorts of links looking for places to go, things to do, government officials to bug with our New York questions (like how to get a FL gun/hunting permit and fingerprinted for a FL real estate license - LOL).

If you want to go to the Brevard Zoo where we filmed Stingray and ZooTrain click this link:

http://www.brevardzoo.org/

Since I'm learning the state while vacationing with the wee people I thought I'd pass along a few other useful links...

"Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge was established in 1963 as an overlay of NASA’s John F. Kennedy Space Center. Consisting of 140,000 acres, the Refuge provides a wide variety of habitats: coastal dunes, saltwater estuaries and marshes, freshwater impoundments, scrub, pine flatwoods, and hardwood hammocks provide habitat for more than 1,500 species of plants and animals." http://www.fws.gov/merrittisland/

Brevard Art Museum "is a gathering place, a visitor attraction, a landmark, an anchor, a catalyst for change; we exist to educate and to deliver a message that will encourage people to think differently about their relationship to others and the world; a center of creativity, the Museum collects, displays and interprets all aspects of the visual arts, particularly women artists, in ways that relate to the past, to the present, and to the future. The Brevard Art Museum is a community cultural bridge." http://www.brevardartmuseum.org/

"Join Captain Rick's personalized, interpretive eco-tour as you look for alligators, native and migratory birds, and other Florida wild life on the St. Johns River. Climb aboard “Grasshopper”, a state-of-the-art air-boat, custom built for a comfortable and safe Florida air-boat ride, promising you an educational and fun wildlife experience. Captain Rick (friends in the know call Captain Rick the Florida Authority). A lifelong Floridian and fully licensed and insured U.S. Coast Guard Master, will narrate your exciting 90 minute air-boat eco-tour. You will enjoy optimum wildlife viewing being seated in elevated, cushioned seats." http://www.airboatecotours.com/

Did I mention we are having a lot of fun in The Sunshine State? Working on some more eye candy for ya while we figure out where to go and what to do next...

The kids have got to take their showers... Aunt Mona is coming over to take the shorties to the pool, which means I can create some more music between cloud watching and observing them work on their tans (LOL). ;-)
